Elders are elected by the congregation once a year and normally serve a three year term.
Their responsiblilities include:
- "Shepherd[ing] the flock of God..." (1Pet 5:2)
- Protecting, guiding, providing and caring by moving among the people especially on Sunday mornings
- Serving as Elder of the Week periodically Sunday through Saturday
- Monday morning: open email from Pastor Jim re most pressing pastoral needs
- The church will contact elders if new needs arise
- Email Pastor Jim re any significant contacts made during the week
- During the years of service, be available as needed for shepherding:
- Individuals or families who have come through the new members class and/or are
- Wounded or struggling individuals or families that need ongoing oversight and/or prayer covering
