These classes are offered on Sundays, 9:45-10:45am through the end of May.
Colossians & Philemon
Facilitated by Stacey Miller, Administrator of Myrtle Grove Christian School - Room 120 - Feb. 21 - May 23
This class is targeted to young couples and/or parents of school-aged children.
What do you do when it becomes unusual to set a Christian example in the workplace and community, or when it grows increasingly difficult to hold together a Christian household? What do you do when you and your children are bombarded with non-Christian ideas; and, in searching for direction, you find the Church to be doctrinally confused and indifferent?
The Glory of His Grace
Facilitated by Steve Curtis - Room 119 - Feb. 21 - May 23
He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:5-7)
These verses will serve as the theme for this discussion group. We will try to better understand the “glory” and the “riches” of His grace. This group will go beyond the basics and dig more deeply into the foundational beliefs of our faith. Our relationship with God is directly related to how well we know Him. The focus will be primarily on the doctrines surrounding salvation, also known as the “doctrines of grace.” They will be the basis for a deeper awareness of God’s boundless love for us, and the study of them will enable us to see more clearly just how amazing His grace really is! The more we contemplate that and marvel at God’s plan, the more we will hunger and thirst for His presence. This discussion group is designed to be stimulating, engaging, and rewarding. In addition to the Bible, we will use a study guide and The Glory of His Grace ($3). I look forward to our discussions!
We will find answers to these questions and others in this 13-week study of Colossians and Philemon. We will engage in a verse-by-verse Bible study with particular concern for how these books apply to the contemporary Christian family.
