Adult Discipleship Classes

Spring 2012

Isaiah – John Ruble, Room 117

Isaiah was arguably the greatest of the Biblical prophets who lived and wrote during a 60 year ministry toward the end of the 8th century BC.  God revealed more about the coming Messiah to Isaiah than He did to any other OT character.  His emphasis on the coming Messiah is second only to the Psalms in terms of its fullness and variety.  His emphasis on salvation has earned Isaiah the title of evangelist of the Old Testament.  Just like the Bible, the book of Isaiah has 66 chapters.  The first 39 chapters, just like the OT, focus on God's judgment of sin.  The last 27 chapters, just like the NT, focus on the grace of God.  The study of the book of Isaiah is essentially a review of the Bible in miniature. This is a continuing class, but all are welcome!

Hebrews – John Gonzalez, Room 9/10

"This class will be set in an atmosphere of discussion as we travel through the wondrous Biblical book, "The Epistle [Letter] to the Hebrews." There are some excellent expositions written by other men which I would rather share with you than to think that I can do better than they have done. Here is one I found particularly meaningful. The writer, E. Schyler, penned this statement: “The Epistle to the Hebrews, one of the most important books in the New Testament in that it contains some of the chief doctrines of the Christian faith, is, as well, a book of infinite logic and great  beauty,

To read it is to breathe the atmosphere of heaven itself.

To study it is to partake of strong spiritual meat.

To abide in its teachings is to be led from immaturity to maturity in the knowledge of Christian truth and of Christ Himself. It is to “go on into perfection.”’

Come join us as we venture through God's Word. If you do join us, please bring your copy of His Word. This is a continuing class, but all are welcome!

Courageous Living [from the movie, Courageous] - Glenn Harbeck, Room 114

Session topics include:

2.      Courageous Priorities: valuing what matters most

3.      Courageous Legacy: impacting future generations

4.      Courageous Faith: standing for Christ

Bible Prophecy Reflected in Current Events - Michael Escalante and Phil Stump, Room 112

You are invited to join in a time of discovery, discussion and prayer on how current events reflect Bible prophecy and how Bible prophecy foretells these current events.

Song of Solomon – Anne Blackley, Room 120

In this study we find on the surface of the Song of Solomon a love story written by King Solomon to a foreign lady, but underneath we discover the heart of the Lord Jesus to his bride.  The book has been proclaimed to be the song of all songs.  In other words, it is the best and most holy song in the word of God.  We know that all Scripture is holy but the Song of Solomon has been said to take us into the holy of holies.  From the beginning chapters of the Shumanite’s desire for intimacy to the last few chapters of a devoted life, each verse will unveil the struggles, joys and wisdom of seeking and growing in a covenant relationship with our heavenly bridegroom.  When the Holy Spirit unlocks this special love letter to us, we will never be the same.  This study is for women.
