Summer Adult Discipleship Classes
Beginning Sunday, June 3, 9:45 am-10:45 am
The Gospel According to Luke
Taught by Stacy Miller
Room 120
If Luke were alive today, he would probably be an excellent documentary filmmaker. By his own testimony, he took great care to record the facts of Jesus’ life and ministry methodically. But at the same time, he tells a compelling and captivating story that highlights the compassion that Jesus showed toward those who were generally held in low esteem, especially the sick, the poor, and women. Join us this summer as we allow Luke the physician to offer us a fresh introduction to Jesus through this Spirit-inspired Gospel.
Job in Recession
Taught by Jim Waller
Room 9/10
If you are a person who learns through study and discussion, bring your knowledge, reading and inquisitive nature to a new discipleship class studying the book of Job. The book of Job certainly defines a personal economic recession which most of us can identify with in these troubling times. This is an opportunity to learn from one of the four wisdom books of the Bible about living through a period when bad things happen to good people. Jesus defined himself as “the Way and the Truth and the Life…” Therefore, Truth is a good place to start to help understand Job the man as he related to God the Father.
Heaven
Facilitated by Tony Satterfield
Room 117
“Soon you will read in the newspapers that I am dead. Don’t believe it for a moment. I will be more alive than ever before.” – D. L. Moody
“Most of us find it very difficult to want heaven at all except insofar as ‘heaven’ means meeting again our friends who have died. One reason for this difficulty is that we have not been trained; our whole education tends to fix our minds on this world. Another reason is that when the real want for heaven is present in us, we do not recognize it.” – C. S. Lewis
This will be a discussion class intended to reignite – or discover for the first time – a passion for what it means for a child of God to enter into eternal life in His presence. Randy Alcorn’s book, Heaven, will be used as a discussion tool.
Bible Prophecy Reflected in Current Events
Facilitated by Michael Escalante and Phil Stump
Room 112
You are invited to join in a time of discovery, discussion and prayer on how current events reflect Bible prophecy and how Bible prophecy foretells these current events.
