Series: Finding Your Place in Ministry
Pt. I “Attitude is everything” Phil. 2:3-11
This morning we begin a series entitled, Finding Your Place in Ministry. We will begin very broadly and then begin to narrow the scope to view specific ministry opportunities in and through MGEPC. This morning I want to begin by examining the Ministry Life of Jesus.
I. Servants think more about others than about themselves.
A. True humility. (not thinking less of ourselves; thinking of ourselves less) Phil. 2:4
B. Forgetting ourselves long enough to lend a hand. Vr. 3
C. Humility is a daily struggle because I am by nature selfish.
D. Self denial is the core of servanthood. Vr. 7 Implied.
II. Servants are stewards in life not owners of it.
A. Although Jesus was God He did not hold to “ownership.” Vr. 6
B. Faithfulness is the real test. I Cor. 4:2 (trustworthy)
C. Servants settle the issue of Money in their hearts. Lk. 16:13
III. Servants think about their assignment not the work of others.
A. Servants don’t compete. (Except in loving one another)
B. Servants don’t compare. (Judge another) Ro. 14:4
C. Servants know their biggest assignment is themselves. Gal. 5:24
IV. Servants think of ministry as an opportunity, not obligation.
A. The closer you get to Jesus = less self promotion. II. Cor. 10:18
B. Do you enjoy helping people? Meeting needs? Serving others?
C. Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
D. God sees and doesn’t forget! Heb. 6:10
God is giving us a marvelous opportunity to excel in serving Him and serving each other!
